Hey All! Millie here with a new gift from the Handmade Christmas Blog Hop! A bunch of us crafty bloggers got together to brainstorm 1 gift a month we could make for the people on our Christmas list. By making a few gifts all year long that MIGHT relieve the usual last minute crafting crunch! See the link up below for all the great gifts made so far!
Mary, blogger at The Boondocks Blog, made a lovely gift using the words from a song and a simple picture frame. You can see her creation HERE. I loved the idea but had already made one gift with music and wasn’t sure what type of music anyone else likes. So then I thought of doing a poem but ended up getting distracted (ha!) and pushed the idea to the side. Then my oldest sister called with some life changing news (for her) and Mary’s gift popped back in my head! Part of the convo with her ended with her taking a week off work to go “find her happy self”, I said “oh that little pony tail girl with the freckles that giggles all the time?” and she said yes.
So she doesn’t forget or loose the freckle faced giggler, I enlisted the help of my son’s girlfriend to create my gift for my sister. A positive reinforcement mirror! I wanted something written on it and my hand writing is horrible but I knew Taylor’s is lovely. She also helped me pick the positivity!
I purchased a simple mirror at the dollar store and grabbed some sharpies. In purple (of course!) we added “Nothing is impossible, the word itself say “I’m Possible’! from Audrey Hepburn. If you don’t know who that is, google it. If you know, you can so totally imagine her saying this. I think this will be a great reminder to my sis that she can do anything as well as a gentle reminder of sweet days gone by.
We kicked back and forth ideas for another quote when Taylor shared this one: Today you are YOU! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!” I jumped up and said yes! I love it! Who said that one? (I had just asked her to look for quotes from Doris Day and I was quite sure this was NOT from her) and she told me Dr. Seuss. I said yes! use it but not purple! So she used green.
Last I asked if she could do a picture in the corner of a sweet pony tailed freckle faced girl. Beautiful job! I love the smile and the big eyes, this little girl looks so super happy! Ms. Taylor is an artist for sure! I am so thrilled with my mirror gift and I hope my sis will be too! She has always been there for me offering her support and love, I am hoping this little mirror will help her regain her confidence and joy of life.
If you have a great positive reinforcement quote or mantra share below! I am making a small notebook of quotes, sayings, mantras and tips to include with this mirror. I would be honored to include yours!
Thanks for crafting with us today and best wishes for a super happy week!
