Hi all! Kristina here. We just recently moved into our new home and haven’t had time to hang any of our pictures. I found the perfect spot in the hallway but wasn’t sure what I wanted to do there, so many options! We are part of a Blogging Friends group and we all decided to do a post and a party for Valentine’s day – so fun!! I decided to do something a bit different then our usual crochet and designed a heart shaped gallery wall! I also had some little 2″ x 2″ canvases that I thought would look great with Love words on them. I got some paint markers and begged a friend of mine to help me with it. Believe it or not she free handed them. They look amazing! I wish I had that kind of talent.
I started by laying the shape out on the bed to get a general idea of where i wanted everything then took a picture to refer to. When I first started hanging them on the wall I was just winging it, I put the middle picture in first with the intent to just add the rest around it but no matter what I did everything seemed crooked, and I was just leaving holes all in the wall.
So instead I decided to start with the two mirrors and work up. So I measured up from the baseboard the same distance and spaced them about where I wanted them width wise. I then cut the distance between them in half to get the mid point of the big picture and eye balled the height. Then I measured out at an angle the same distance from each corner to hang the larger of the small ones.
I measured the smaller ones even with the larger ones and the same distance down on each side so they were even.
From there I added in the little canvases. At this point I was able to mostly eye ball it only needing to adjust a couple of times and never adjusting so much that I couldn’t cover up the holes with the canvases.
The photos I took are a little crooked as the space is so small I couldn’t really back up enough to get a good shot. Sorry about that. All in all I think it looks pretty good though. I love that the colors of the canvases go with the rug in the living room tying the spaces all together. She even did some of the canvases with patterns from the rug, amazing to me! (I smudged one, sad face, make sure they are all the way dry before touching! better yet, don’t touch the fronts!)
I have plans to update the family pictures as time goes on and I’m thinking of spray painting the mirrors black to blend better. What do you think? Does it look like a heart to you? Let me know what you think and thanks for hanging out with us!
