We had a post recently about Hope Animal Rescue and information on fostering and adopting these adorable fur baby rescues. This post is about Adoption Events! These events are a great way to help your local rescue get these sweet rescues in front of potential adopters and recruit fosters. This particular event was held at Oliver’s Collar, a local Dog Treat Bakery.
The store Oliver’s Collar is owned and operated by Kahli and Eric Wamback. When you enter you are greeted by Snuggle Bear and Chloe, Kahli’s fur babies.
We spoke with Kahli Wamback about the store and why they would host an adoption event. Kahli and her husband, Eric, opened Oliver’s Collar for many reasons, one of which was to develop a community that is based around healthy, happy pets. At Oliver’s Collar they bake their own wheat, corn and soy free treats, cookies and cakes for dogs (as well as three flavors of doggie frozen yogurt). Kahli and Eric feel that the best way they can promote education and get shelter dogs the exposure they need to find their forever homes is by inviting and encouraging adoption events at the store.
When Hope Animal Rescue volunteers and fosters arrived, things started happening! Audrey, the Foster Coordinator, arrived first and talked with Kahli about the area that had been reserved for the event. While they chatted I checked out the store. Wow, this is a pretty good sized store and was filled to the brim with everything you need to take care of a sweet fur baby. Food, toys, clothes, treats and more!
Finally time to get set up! Hope Animal Rescue uses these cool collapsible pens to help hold the puppies and dogs they have available for adoption, so first step was to set these up. Pretty easy, you put two panels together and slide a rod in, repeat. Turns out in speaking to one of the foster moms, while Macy (my fur baby) was with Hope, she had started learning how to climb over the fence! She is such a trouble maker!
While this was going on the foster moms and their charges arrived. There was a lot of tail sniffing, doggie kisses and wiggly puppies everywhere! After spreading out some mats and piddle pads, time for the puppies to head into the pens and look cute!
People soon arrived to check out the puppies and dogs available for adoption. The fosters and staff talked to everyone explaining Hope’s mission and giving adoption and fostering information on the fur babies. The potential new moms and dads were able to look, pet, hold and snuggle their potential new babies so they could find the one for them!
Post event I heard that several of these rescues were pending adoption and a couple new foster parents are in the works! Super successful event! If you would like to help your local rescue but cannot adopt or foster at this time, arranging an Adoption Event would be a great way to help! For more information check with Hope AR or your local rescues.
Go out and share some fur baby love today!
