There’s nothing like heading to the beach in the summertime! Sun, sand, surf and shells (say that 10 times fast!). To keep that sweet summer beach trip in mind during the cold, dark winter we made a few Christmas at the Beach Ornaments!
You probably know by now Kristina LOVES the beach and so these ornaments we are creating are for her tree in her new home. She was pretty excited when I sprung the surprise on her!
We used the left over sand from our Sand Art project and some plastic ornaments ordered off Amazon.
And these cute tiny tiny shells also from Amazon and some sharpies to make our ornaments.
Step 1: pick the sand color you like best, pour a bit into the ornament. Assistance could be handy if you have someone to help 🙂
Step 2: gently push in a few tiny shells.
Step 3: add the top back on and ta da! Done! Beautiful beachy shelly Christmas ornament!
From a trip to the local Scrap Exchange, Kristina had purchased some of these little bottles. She used sand to make…sand art! in one. Add twine and hang.
We had brought out some nail polish so Rami took the red and some oil to make her own decoration! She originally tried with water which just covered the top of the jar in the polish. Once we found out what she wanted, we had her swap the water for oil and then she had the lava lamp look she wanted.
We added a message to one with a bit of sand and a shell – I will love you forever! for a message in a bottle.
I used the pink nail polish and poured the remainder of the polish into a an ornament – it turned out well! we kept swirling it around until the whole ball was covered on the inside then let it sit to dry.
Kristina got in on the nail polish action by added the last of the gold sparkle to a ball. It was thicker so didn’t cover as well or else we just needed more of it. Still was a cool effect! I had planned to get some of those alcohol ink pens to use for this but they are expensive – glad to know dollar store nail polish will work 🙂
We ended up with 4 bottles and a dozen different ornaments with various shells, colored sand and designs. These will make a beautiful Christmas tree and many happy memories!
The writing doesn’t photo well but Kristina did add notes to a few – one says The Bridges, one says I would rather be at the Beach, there is the Life’s a beach and a Merry Christmas.
How would you like a beach or coastal themed Christmas Tree? Celebrate Christmas in July with us!
Wishing you a very merry day! Millie
P.S. We would so appreciate it if you would visit and like our friends shop – she needs the pick me up!
