Art work for Rami’s Bedroom

Another project for Rami! Her room is really coming together but she really needed some artwork. Not just any artwork but some art that would help with her jungle vibe. Lucky for her we had a plan!!

Kristina found this lovely gold frame quite near the dumpster at her apartment complex and snagged it up! I paired it with this scrap of upholstery fabric that had flowers and a parrot – now that’s pretty jungley (is that a word?)!

I stapled the fabric to the frame then cut off any excess fabric. I used the hot glue gun (again!) to glue down the edges of the fabric to the back of the frame.

It came out pretty good if I say so myself but…….it needs something…….

Using craft glue, I added some glue to the wing and tail feathers….

I covered the glue with some teal glitter – everyone loves glitter!! – and then went back and added some gold to a few of the flowers.

Some lovely sparkling going on here! Rami will LOVE this!!

But we wanted MORE!! Taking another frame bought at the Goodwill for under $3.00 and a dress also from Goodwill (hubby’s idea) we decided to make another piece of art.

I spray painted the frame in the same green we used before and cut the skirt off the dress. I then stapled the cloth to the frame as above.

This time we added fairy lights!! Using blue tape (hey it was all I could find) I secured the fairy lights around the frame and then went back and forth from top to bottom. I still had some length left so just squiggled the remaining lights around the middle.

Can you believe I couldn’t find the Duct tape!?!? I searched all over and finally gave up. I found this white cloth strip in a roll in the hubby’s tools – no idea what it is for but I used it with the hot glue to secure the tape and edges of the dress to the frame. In the end, the frame was a bit wobbly so I used cardboard stapled on top to sturdy up the frame.

Plug it in and…..

WOW!! I love it!! I am going to have to make my own!!! Don’t you just love it and want one of your own?
